Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be talking about Diablo 4's Season 1, when it releases, what kind of stuff we get, and more.
Since I'm a professional Diablo 4 booster here at Boosting Factory, I'm preparing myself upfront for all the content so I can be ready to boost from day 1. However, I'm also going to share all the stuff with you.
All players who have finished the campaign will be able to go to the Seasonal Realm, which will give them a new set of challenges. As a terrible disease spreads around the world, there are new chances to get stronger, find unique things, and see how strong you are against all-new elite creatures. It sounds great, and it's coming up in just two weeks!
Blizzard says that Diablo 4 patch 1.04 will go live on July 6 while we wait for Season 1 to start. Even though it won't be as "chunky" as 1.03, it will have a number of improvements, bug fixes, and new features. For example, Helltide Chests will be able to drop unique things. This will, of course, hold us over until July 18, when the Diablo 4 season 1 patch goes live, a day before the game's official release on July 20.
There's a lot of new information to go through, so keep reading to find out everything we know so far about the new Diablo 4 season 1 gameplay changes, news, and details.
When Does Diablo 4 Season 1 Start?
The first season of Diablo 4 will come out on July 20, 2023. This is what Blizzard is calling the "Season of the Evil." Set after the main Diablo 4 story, when a new evil starts to spread through the world's animals, humans, and demons, you'll have to fight back against the Malignant.
Don't forget that you have to finish the campaign in Diablo 4 before you can start the first season.
When Does Diablo 4 Season 1 End?
I expect the Season 1 to End on around October 20th, 2023. Blizzard's goal is to release four seasons of Diablo 4 every year. Each season will last three months.
What's The Lore Behind Season 1?
In the first season of Diablo 4, you'll work with a new character named Cormand, who used to be a priest at the Cathedral of Light. After your fight with Lilith is over, Cormand gets pulled into a new battle.
Season of the Malignant isn't a continuation of the main campaign, as Blizzard is quick to point out. Instead, it's a side quest in the open world that takes place after the campaign. You'll work with other heroes to get rid of a disease that could destroy Sanctuary. If you join the Seasonal Realm, you can start the season 1 story as soon as you reach Kyovashad if you choose to do so.
How Do Diablo 4 Seasons Work?
Seasons aren't like regular events; you'll have to do something different from the main story to finish them. Season 1 also comes with a Battle Pass and a Season Journey. To get valuable rewards, you have to complete a number of tasks, goals, and missions.
Eternal and Seasonal Realms - What Carries Over
Most of Season of the Malignant's new challenges require you to start a new seasonal character, but a lot of your character data from Diablo 4's endgame, which Blizzard calls the "Eternal Realm," will move over.
This data includes the maps you've explored, the regional renown points you've won, and the Altars of Lilith you've used. Your XP, gear, and things in your Codex of Power will not follow you.
After the season update patch goes live on July 18, Blizzard suggests you log in with the character you've made the most progress with. Diablo 4 will save that progress to your account and apply it to every character when you sign in as them. This includes characters on the Eternal Realm and special characters.
For example, if you have a Barbarian who has visited all of Scosglen and earned the most renown there, your brand-new seasonal character will already have those renown points and map progress unlocked when you log in.
Let's say you also have a Sorcerer who has traveled across the entire Dry Steppes. If you log into that character, their information will be shared with the rest of your account. This means that your new seasonal character will have a big head start with fame, potions, and skill points if you log into that character.
The same goes for any new characters you make in the Eternal Realm to play the game again.
What Does NOT Carry Over In Season 1
The following things will definitely not be carried over to the next season:
- Character Levels
- Paragon Points
- Gold
- Codex of Power
Battle Pass System in Diablo 4 Season 1
With the Battle Pass, players get rewards as they level it up. Battle Pass XP (Favour XP) can be earned by finishing seasonal quests, events, and other tasks.
In D4 Season 1, there are three different kinds of Battle Pass:
- Free Battle Pass – including 27 tiers, each with unique rewards.
- Premium Battle Pass – which costs 9.99$ and contains 63 premium tiers + all bonuses from the free battle pass
- Accelerated Battle Pass – which costs 24.99$ and includes 27 tier skips + all bonuses from the premium battle pass + Wings of the Creator Emote.
But if you got Diablo 4's Deluxe Edition, you can get the Premium Battle Pass for free. If not, you can go to the D4 shop and buy any version of the Battle Pass you want.
As you move through the Battle Pass, you can expect to get the following rewards:
- Free Battle Pass – Various Cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes.
- Premium & Accelerated Battle Pass – more Various Cosmetics, valuable Smoldering Ashes, and Platinum currency (can be used to purchase rare Cosmetics).
How To Play The Content In Season of the Malignant
If you want to play Season of the Malignant missions, you'll need to finish the main Diablo 4 storyline on the Eternal Realm first. Once you do that, Malignant enemies will start to show up everywhere in the open world, whether you buy the battle pass or play in the Seasonal Realm.
If you really want to get into the Season of the Malignant, you'll need to make a new character on the Seasonal Realm and go straight to Kyovashad. Blizzard has stated that your reputation will carry over to your new character. This includes your
unlocked Diablo 4 Altar of Lilith statues, potion charges, skill points, and Diablo 4 map progress.
Diablo 4 Season 1 Journey System explained
Every season will have a "Journey," which is a set of chapters with goals you can finish to move forward on your battle pass. Journey goals include a wide range of things, like cleaning out basements or defeating a certain type of enemy. You don't have to complete every goal for the Journey to move forward, so if there's one you don't care about, you can just ignore it.
When you finish a Season Journey chapter, you'll also get rare items, like new Aspects that you can't get from finishing dungeons.
How To Get Malignant Hearts in Season 1
To get Malignant Hearts, you have to fight tough new Elite enemies. When you kill an Elite, their evil heart is revealed, and if you use a Cage of Binding on it, the Elite will respawn as a more difficult enemy with new spawns fighting with it. If you beat that one, you'll get their Malignant Heart.
After you finish the story for the season, there will also be Malignant Tunnels in some places. At the end of each of these minidungeons is a Malignant Outgrowth. You can use invokers, which are special things made from reclaimed Malignant Hearts, to turn on one of the growth's nodes, summon an Elite, and get a Malignant Heart that matches the node's colour.
How To Prepare For Diablo 4 Season 1?
Want to prepare for the first season of Diablo 4? Okay, so the first thing you should do is finish the campaign. Until you do, you won't be able to use any of the new story, game features, or items. But that's not all.
Blizzard says that a lot of your work from the Eternal Realm can be carried over to the Seasonal Realm. This should make it easy to level up after July 20. Before season 1 starts, you should collect as many Altar of Lilith statues as you can and find as many new places as you can.
The reputation you earn will roll over to your new seasonal character. Speaking of progress, starting July 18, you'll want to log into the character you've made the most progress with. This will start a process that will make sure all of your progress is spread to your other characters.
